Welcome to Atlanta

Congratulations! You have finally made it to Atlanta. You have been anticipating this moment in fear and excitement for 2 months and now you are finally hear to embark on a God given journey for 3 months to a place somewhere around the globe to tell the people about the Good News of a Savior!

But wait! Before you leave on this epic journey here is an address for the Safehouse in Atlanta, and here is $20. You need to get from the airport to this address.  There is also fun catch, your leaders arn’t allowed to help! Yep you and your team who you have known for mere hours if not minutes have to figure out how to get  to this Safehouse in a city most of you have never been to. Good luck! You’re adults, you can do it, and better yet you have the Holy Spirt so we trust you to make it there!

Well an hour later, a lot of mindless wandering, a lot of asking for help, discovering what the MARTA is and 2 extra dollars we did finally all make it there. I got my first taste of how AIM operates within a half hour of stepping off my plane. Was I appreciative of this learning expierence when it first happened? Not when we were all staring at each other like deer in the headlights because even the girl from the Atlanta suburbs wasn’t sure the best way to get there. But what I have since learned is this happens frequently in the missions field and this kind of sitation will probably be the first of many. So thank you AIM, I appreciate it now.
