So we've officially been in Brazil for 5 days, but it feels like it's been weeks! Our first day here, Paul, our missionary contact came and picked us up from the airport in Belo Horizonte, and THAT is where the real adventure started. We got to Paul's property about an hour after leaving the airport, and the beauty of this place was phenomenal! The first day here we were able to rest and become adjust to the slight time difference, which was nice after over 2 days of travel! After our first day here, we were able to get to see some of the culture of Brasil. The guys went with Paul while he did some running around to pick up supplies, and the girls went with Ashley, his wife, and did some grocery shopping!
It was awesome to be able to meet some of the locals, and to see the culture on our first few days here. But the scariest part about traveling around Brasil, is driving! Nobody stays in their own lanes, people pass each other while using on and off ramps, they go from driving 70 mph to 40 mph to avoid getting caught in a speed trap, and then are back to flying down the road again! It makes for some fun car rides, and adrenaline pumping times while watching Paul avoid other cars! The most fun, and also the scariest ride was taking the little 4-door sedan down, and then back up the mountain, it was intense!!
After we became adjusted to the culture, and were rested we began working on different projects around the ranch, which so far has included sanding, cleaning, and repainting a small building, repairing the roof which covered a bread oven, and sanding some doors for Paul's Missionary Training Center ( MTC). It's his, " Noah's Ark" project, he is putting all of his time and money into this building, and doesn't know where he is going to get the people to fill it. He is completely relying on God to provide, and the passion he has for this building makes me want to work even harder to help him complete it! I'll be throwing pictures up here as we continue to work, those of you who supported me can continue to follow along and see what we are doing while here! Please continue to pray for me and my team as we work on the projects, so that there are no injuries, and we don't become too exhausted, physically or mentally. Love you all, and thank you supporting me to be able to come to this beautiful country.
