So I figured this would be a good chance to write about some
of the things I’ve already had the opportunity to do while in Brasil. Some
pretty awesome stuff, some scary stuff, but all amazing experiences in my book!
So here goes nothing!
Have you ever…
–
Gotten stuck in a city, where no one speaks your
language, and had no translator?
–
Hiked through the jungle, cutting your way
through with only machetes?
–
Hiked that same trail back, with the moon being
your only light? Done it barefoot?
–
Had a 2 hour dance party in the moonlight on the
roof of a 2 story building?
–
Slept on said roof, while 30mph blew across you?
–
Visited the central market, which has every food
and handmade item imaginable for sale, and almost had a heart attack while
driving there?
–
Spent all day, every day with the same 7 people,
and still wanted to be around them?
–
Shocked some locals, because you were a young
man and were doing dishes? ( Men here don’t know the basics of taking care of
themselves, they live at home till they are married, and their mothers take
care of them till that point.)
–
Enjoyed worship in a foreign church, and singing
a song in English, while the rest of the church sang the same song in
Portuguese? (It’s an amazing experience, not gonna lie!)
Those are only few of the things I’ve gotten to do in the 10
days I’ve been here! I’m going to do
another one of these towards the end of the trip, and have a feeling it’s going
to be MUCH longer than this. We’ve gotten quite a bit of work done these first
10 days, which includes painting a roof, prepping and painting window sills
(not sure if that’s what you’d call them, but it sounds right), to have the
windows installed, painting the breakfast chalet a beautiful shade of forest
green, with oil based paint, which is a pain to work with and take off the
skin. We are still going to be working
on this for the next week, but it’s going to look great when finished!
This is our FULL team! So good to be all together at last!
